Severodonetsk: Public Education for Youth in the East of Ukraine
From May 27 to 28, the NGO "Youth of Eastern Ukraine" and Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom hosted the last training “Civic Activity of Active Youth” within the project “Public Education for Youth in the East of Ukraine”. The event was held at the public platform “Khochu Budu” in Severodonetsk in the Luhansk region.
Oksana Ivanik and Revaz Tateishvili, trainers and facilitators of the NGO “Insha Osvita”, shared their experience of successfully implementing community initiatives and communicated knowledge and knowhow on the basics of project management, budgeting, fundraising and teambuilding.
Learning through action was the basic principle of this training – participants receiving new knowledge and skills thanks to practical tasks and follow-up discussions of approaches and strategies.
The participants, representatives of public organisations, educational institutions and students of the Severodonetsk, Lysychansk, Zvanivka, Pereizne and Bakhmut districts, worked on the following projects:
- creating a media center for school children and awareness raising on cyber security;
- establish an English debate club for high school students;
- create free-of-charge working space for students of the many displaced universities from the occupied territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions;
- offer field trainings for active students in search of motivation from other areas of Ukraine.
