Academic Entrepreneurship is a way of transferring knowledge and technology from science and higher education to the private business sector, thus contributing to increase the innovativeness and competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SME). Many countries have appreciated that and integrate the support of Academic Entrepreneurship in their SME policy strategy. In Ukraine, this topic has received only little attention so far.

This is why we have initiated a comprehensive research pertaining to Academic Entrepreneurship in Ukraine. An international expert team interviewed government officials, officials of Ukraine’s leading universities and science parks, top researchers of the National Academy of Science, Ukrainian venture capital firms and several non-governmental organizations, all of which are committed to promote Academic Entrepreneurship in Ukraine.

Making a start, we invite you to the expert team’s presentation of their findings for future improvements, followed by a Round Table discussion.

The idea of this Round Table is to connect many players in the field of Academic Entrepreneurship in order to bundle the positive energy and enthusiasm of the many committed people. We believe that sharing already existing experience would help other players to learn about different perspectives and appreciate different contributions. This in turn will make the cooperation between all players more effective in the future. To sum up: The aim of our Round Table is not just having another theoretical discourse, but to facilitate networking and synergy while at the same time communicating our findings and recommendations.

Welcome:
Miriam Kosmehl, Project Director Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, Ukraine.

Presentation of findings:
Dr. Alexander Knuth, Consultant with Berlin Economics, expert for entrepreneurship, small and medium-sized companies and foreign direct investment.

Round table discussion with:
